J. D. Salinger
Quotations

If you really want to hear about it, the first thing youíll probably want to know is where I was born, and what my lousy childhood was like, and how my parents were occupied and all before they had me, and all that David Copperfield kind of crap, but I donít feel like going into it.

What I like best is a book thatís at least funny once in a while . . . . What really knocks me out is a book that, when youíre all done reading it, you wish the author that wrote it was a terrific friend of yours and you could call him up on the phone whenever you felt like it. That doesnít happen much, though.

I donít know about bores. Maybe you shouldnít feel too sorry if you see some swell girl getting married to them. They donít hurt anybody most of them, and maybe theyíre all terrific whistlers or something. Who the hell knows? Not me.

I donít even like old cars . . . Iíd rather have a goddam horse. A horse is at least human, for Godís sake.
